Master Bedroom and Bathroom Designed for the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Showhouse

The Transformation

This design needed special consideration. The home was originally designed and built by Eschweiler & Eschweiler, one of the most prolific architectural firms in Milwaukee’s history. Over the past century, many Eschweiler buildings have been demolished, and many of the surviving buildings have suffered character-damaging renovations. To preserve the Eschweiler character, we felt that the heart of the design aesthetic should remain intact. That being said, the client requested modern conveniences and a more open floor plan. To accomplish this, we decided to “steal space” from 2 adjacent closets to create a toilet closet and separate shower stall. The end result was a large open area for bathing and dressing and then individual rooms for the toilet closet and shower.
