A Wauwatosa Craftsman Remodel with Layers of History

The Transformation

This small craftsman home in the village of Wauwatosa needed a little inspiration. The bones of this 1928 home were good and there was plenty of character with fabulous old world carpentry. However, after many years of neglect, a full gut renovation was needed. A second floor suite was created by demolishing 3 small bedrooms in the space. A second floor luxury bathroom was created as well as amenities such as in suite laundry and a Bosch built in coffee maker.

The roof line created an exaggerated sloped ceiling that was balanced with lighting, skylights, and a light color scheme. The floors were stained with a white stain before being sealed to keep the light and airy feeling. Throughout the home, white walls set the backdrop for unique collections of vintage artwork and furniture. Blended into the antiques are modern pieces of furniture and rugs which give the rooms a sophisticated and fun vibe. The living and dining rooms are infused with fun patterns, textures, and fresh doses of color.
